Abstract

The creation and management of radioactive waste brings with it significant risks in terms of health and the environmental with far-reaching consequences. In the early stages of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, but its closure was not regulated, which has changed significantly in recent decades. This work serves the characteristics of radioactive waste, the originator, and resources, but also dealing with it on the basis of the Czech legislation. Describes, in particular, the situation around the building to the underground storage of radioactive waste, which is currently selected seven sites. All of these sites have one thing in common, and that is the resistance of the local authorities and the population against the realization of the storage.
