Abstract
The thesis deals with assesment of acute aquatic toxicity of water leachates from selected pyrometallurgical slags to two algal strains Desmodesmus subspicatus and Chlorella vulgaris. Elemental composition of the studied samples and thein leachates was determined using XRFS AAS-ICP methods. The analytes of interest in both water leachates were proved to meer limit concentrations fot inert materials. However toxicity bioassays revealed grow inhibition of both the strains. Therefore, it can be assumed that usage of these slags as raw materials, e.g. for land reclamation mya lead to interactions with water organisms and these materials may potentially pose some environmental risks not only for autotrophic green algae.
