Abstract
The aim of this bachelor thesis is the design of heating and air conditioning of modern family houses. The thesis is divided into two theoretical parts, where an overview of different methods of heating and air conditioning is given. Here we will describe solid fuel boilers, electric heating systems, gas boilers and heat pumps. This section ends with a conclusion that pairs the financial cost of heating two differently insulated buildings. In the second part, namely the practical part, we calculate the heat loss for a given family building in TechCON and then determine the total annual energy demand for heating this household and hot water for four people. We then select three different methods from the first section for this property and compare them in terms of finance, heat source, emissions and serviceability required. The three methods I will choose are a gas condensing boiler, an automatic solid fuel boiler and the last choice is an air/water heat pump. In this section we will lightly outline the photovoltaic option and finally select the method for the specified house.
