Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of preparedness of volunteer fire brigade units for animal rescue. The thesis provides an overview of the laws and applicable ordinances related to animal rescue and fire protection units. It also focuses on the differences and specifics of rescuing and working with farm and domestic animals and the most common emergencies that threaten them. It also includes an analysis of statistics on animal rescue interventions by the Czech Fire Rescue Service and volunteer fire brigade units. Last but not least, it evaluates the information obtained through a questionnaire sent to individual units of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The results of the survey provide an overview of the current state of preparedness of these units for animal rescue and can serve as a basis for improvement in this area.
