Budoucnost Ukrajiny a její místo v procesu evropské integrace

Abstract

The topic of this diploma thesis is the future of Ukraine and its place in the process of European integration with its focus on the current political and economic problems of the country. The aim of this thesis is to set the perspectives of the future direction of Ukraine in the framework of European integration based on the analysis of socioeconomic, historical and political data. A partial aim is to outline the future development of Ukraine.

In the first part of contents of this diploma thesis are stated the basic economic, social, historical and political characteristics of the country. The following chapter deals with the topical crisis situation of Ukraine and it focuses on the analysis of the current economic and political problems of the country. The last part refers to the perspectives of the future heading of Ukraine in the framework of European integration. This last part also outlines the possible scenarios of the future development of Ukraine.

The diploma thesis points out to the fact that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Russian illegal annexation of Crimea, and the never-ending fights in the East of Ukraine are not the only causes of the current state of the country. Serious inner problems in the Ukrainian economics and politics are caused by a great deal of corruption and the activity of oligarchy extending to all state institutions and political structures. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to look into the most serious causes of the unfavourable economic and political situation of Ukraine, and based on this to contemplate the possible perspectives of cooperation with the European Union.
