Abstract

The first part of the bachelor thesis is about properties, mostly electrical, of outdoor and cable lines of LV and MV networks. These properties are dictated by the used materials, construction, dimensions and environmental influences. The second part analyzes faults, specifically what types exist, reasons why they occur and what consequences they cause to the electrical network. The third part is dedicated to capacitive currents generated by single phase faults and the means of their compensation. The last theoretical part is devoted to describing various means of locating the faulty line and the specific location of the fault, using various different methods. In the following practical part, an example of short-circuited network and a network with ground fault is solved mathematically.
