Abstract
This thesis deals with the issue of environmental decontamination with the use of bioremediation technologies. The method of mycoremediation using ligninolytic fungi is described primarily. The first section of the thesis describes the major types of contaminants occurring in various parts of the environment. The following section presents selected decontamination technologies while explaining and illustrating the principle of the removal of pollutants. The next section characterizes ligninolytic fungi. Based on the studies and experiments it describes in their biodegradation, biosorption and bioconversion capacities in decontaminating polluted soil and water. The last section summarizes the acquired findings, particularly the decontamination effectiveness of selected species of white rot fungi with a view of their use in the future.
