Abstract

The thesis deals with the potentials for reducing water runoff from the land, namely because of reduction of soil erosion, erosion of banks and slowdown of advance of flood wave depending on the overflow to land. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on retention of water in land through natural biotopes. These biotopes include peat bogs, meadows, alluvial plains, bottomland forests, meanders, pools or old river arms. By support of these natural forms of retention the land is enriched of water component, which is vital both for plants and for animals. It is also significant support of small water cycle, which is marked and essential from the point of amount of water in land.
