Moravskoslezská vědecká knihovna a městské vzdělávací zařízení na Slezské Ostravě

Abstract

This thesis describes the design of the Moravian-Silesian Research Library and municipal educational institution. The building is designed on the area of Silesian Ostrava following the Bohumínská street which divides the Moravian and Silesian Ostrava. This area was selected for construction of the library because of integration the Silesian Ostrava in the cultural events in the city.

The library is situated on a triangular parcel which brings the idea of partitioning of library materials according to the three plants. The shape of the material is derived from the concept of allotment and open structure of development typical for Silesian Ostrava. Building for library users arise from combination of two materials. The third and smallest building is intended for employees and administration of the library.

In this work is emphasis on public space, which is part of library, and also on other public place as park near the library.
