Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the current possibilities of blast furnace operation control. The bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part describes the history of the production of iron in the form of iron sponge. Then the production of pig iron in a blast furnace and overall the production of pig iron in the world is described. Furthermore, the first part will address the discharge of the blast furnace during repairs and the possibility of controlling the blast furnace or determining the thermal conditions of the blast furnace. In the second part of the bachelor's thesis we will find the chapters of the blast furnace lining, lining of blast furnace runners, their repairs, and structure. Furthermore, chapters dealing with sealing compounds, an example of the lining of the runners in Tata Steel and a numerical model of the runner section are included.
