Abstract

The thesis deals with the use of Kinect technology as a device enabling to identify the obstacles in the way of visually impaired persons and navigate them to bypass these obstacles. The thesis includes an application for identifying objects from the point cloud from Kinect device and subsequent transfer of these data into the navigation software which helps to bypass the obstacles. The first part of the thesis deals with the possibilities of identifying objects from the point cloud, their specification and determination of the local coordinates of the obstacle. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the connection of the identified obstacles with the navigation. Since our aim was to adjust the outcomes to the needs of visually impaired persons, all communication devices between the outcome and the users are created with the use of audible signals.
