The work deals with the avalanche risk, factors that may contribute significantly to the emergence of avalanches and a description of the selected avalanche accident. There are described the avalanche accident errors, which are made often by visitors of the mountains, including preventive security measures, whose application leads to significant elimination of the risks and consequences, which the avalanche represents.
