Abstract
The purpose of the dissertation entitled "Crosswalk placement in relation to vehicle transmission speed" is the evaluation of the instantaneous speed of the vehicles passing through the stretch in which it is located or the planned pedestrian crossing or place for crossing or crossing point for cyclists via the road . The value of the maximum allowed speed in the Czech Republic is set at 50 km/h, but in real situations it is very often exceeded. In the dissertation work, there are initially defined the main cases where the visibility of the vertical and horizontal traffic signs for the pedestrians or for the passing persons are prevented. Furthermore, a calculation based on mathematical and physical relationships was calculated for calculating the braking distance of the vehicle with its own adjustment taking into account other influences, including the climatic conditions prevailing in the area. The main importance in the dissertation thesis is the realization of own field measurement of the speed of vehicles in the section before the pedestrian crossing for reasons of finding the actual values of the passage speeds in the preselected localities. Measurements were carried out in the North Moravian Region, especially in the city of Ostrava and the surrounding villages in the cold winter and warm spring season, so as to identify a change in driver behavior based on surface conditions, climatic conditions, roominess, traffic intensity, transit time and type of tire followed by statistical evaluation of the measured values. The measurement ranges were chosen to ensure the maximum diversity of the environment from free space with adequate viewing conditions to tight conditions with minimal view from the vehicle cabin or the presence of solid obstacles along the road. The result of the dissertation is a recommendation for designers, assessors (auditors), approvals (state institutions) to carry out a design or assessment of the current state of pedestrian crossings while ensuring transport safety and real input parameters. In the course of work, and in particular field measurements, facts were found that could be recommended for further self-study.
