Abstract
Thanks to increasing demands on the field of hydrocarbon extraction, geological drilling can be often found in areas where either geological conditions are not known very well, or it is already clear from geophysical measurements that formations defined as HP / HT occur in that area. Therefore, it is necessary to modernize the technology and drilling procedures so that areas with HP / HT can be explored safely. These areas with HP / HT have a clear specification. The definitions of HP / HT wells point to increased demands on technological preparation and equipment for the possibility of geological exploration in these areas. Due to this fact, some precautions are necessary to be taken, such as technological reconstruction of the high-pressure line of the drilling rig, or detailed project documentation for subsequent drilling operations in wells that are classified as HP / HT. These wells are typical for their high demands on the equipment of high-pressure lines and components of anti-erosion equipment with higher pressure resistance than the standardized norms according to API for common wells. Because of these difficult conditions of geological exploration, it is essential to have sufficiently trained personnel both of the drilling rig and of service companies for checking the drilling parameters, analysis of drilled cuttings and preparation of proper drilling fluid. Very small tolerance of pressure changes at the bottom of HP / HT well can easily lead to fatal consequences like total drilling fluid losses and eruption.
