Abstract
This thesis studies a company’s market position using benchmarking. It is divided into three parts – theoretical base, practical part, and suggestions and recommendations. The first part describes theoretical-methodological base and company’s market position. The second part uses these bases to practically examine company’s market position and its improvement through comparison with the company with the top market position in given branch. The last part offers three recommendations implied by previous research which the company could use to improve its efficiency.
The subject of this thesis is a company in petroleum industry residing in Havířov, Gascontrol s r.o. ČEZ conglomerate was chosen as its largest competitor. The work is based on both companies’ financial statements for 2014.
