Abstract

The submitted bachelor thesis deals with an analysis of the waste agricultural biomass applicability in the process of biosorption to dispose of residual heavy toxic metals contained in effluent water. Model water solution was used to explore the conditions for chromium(VI) biosorption with the use of plum stones (subgenus Plumus domestica) as biosorbent. A spectrophotometric method was chosen to determine the usableness of the selected biosorbent by way of measuring the sorption capacity and kinetics of chromium(VI). Hydrochloric acid concentrations of 0,1 mol/l, 1 mol/l and 2 mol/l were applied to activate the binding sites of the biosorbent cell wall. Subsequently, different combinations of the process parameters (pH, ambient temperature, variations of input concentration of the model chromium(VI) solution) were investigated.
