Abstract

The aim of this Bachelor Thesis is to analyze why The United Kingdom doesn’t participate in the euro area. The Euro Area, as a result of the European integration process, brings together countries that have renounced their monetary policy and adopt a common currency – the Euro. United Kingdom, even if it is actively involved in various stages of creation of monetary union, hasn’t adopted a common currency and it can cause that it is perceive as a country of Euroskeptics. This work id divided into the following chapters: Introduction, Theory of Monetary integration, European monetary integration, Monetary policy of the UK, Cost – Benefit Analysis of the UK Membership in the Euro Area and the Conclusion. The most important chapter is Cost – Benefit Analysis of the UK Membership in the Euro Area where is analyze the reasons for non – participation in the Euro Area.
