Abstract
Bulk density plays an important role in estimating the amount of individual types of coal for a coal charge and defining the quality of the coal mixture. It is necessary to monitor this information and adjust it, for example with the addition of water, oil or other additives. All over the world, these bulk density adjustments are known and used according to economic or technological requirements. These methods of increasing the bulk density of the coal charge are helpful only at a certain percentage of additives, if we get outside this range, there is a risk of deterioration of the bulk density. Before using any additive, we must consider whether we are able to apply it for technological and other reasons. The bulk density of the coal charge can be increased to some extent by the addition of water, but this has only a limited effect on the bulk density, which is why fuel oil has been used in the past. Fuel oil can increase the bulk density of the coal charge significantly, but it is not very suitable from an ecological point of view. Today, we have wider options for adjusting the bulk density, specifically, for example, the use of detergent.
