Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the negotiation processes of the Western Balkan countries for accession to the European Union. The first part is devoted to the specific historical developments in the Western Balkans up to the current state. The second part focuses on the accession processes which have to be fulfilled by each state seeking to join the European Union and also describes the gradual process of enlargement of the European Union. The third part presents an analysis of the progress for the Western Balkan countries, identifying the challenges for each country and highlighting the development of the reform steps that are central to joining the European Union. Although the accession talks of the countries analysed are at different stages, further progress is closely linked to the reforms and their approval processes in the respective national parliaments.
