Abstract

This submitted bachelor’s dissertation is dealing with the utilization of yeasts in environmental biotechnologies. The first chapter of this dissertation is devoted to the definiton of yeasts, their substance, morphology , cytology, chemical composition of cytoplasm, their growth and reproduction. The next part is dealing with the isolation of the yeasts, their cultivation and the subsequent identification of particular genera and species of yeast microorganisms. The last chapter of this bachelor’s dissertation is dedicated to the environmental utilization of the yeasts. Firstly it is concentrated on the biodegradation of phenol using yeasts Candida tropicalis and Candida maltosa which are capable of using phenol as a source of carbon and energy, secondly on the bidegradation of chlorophenols by means of Rhodotorula rubra, Candida maltosa or Cryptococcus elinovii and subsequently on the utilization of yeasts Rhodotorula glutinis and Saccharomyces carlsbergensis Hansen as bioflocculants at the treatment of black coal sludge.
