Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the physiology of oxygen transport through blood by erythrocytes and subsequent measurement of oxygen saturation of blood using optical method. The thesis is focused on the microcontroller powered pulse oximeter design and its implementation with wireless transmission of measured values for heart rate and oxygen saturation of blood calculation. Android application coded in Java allows data to be received via Bluetooth communication, calculate oxygen saturation of blood, determine heart rate and plot the pulse wave.
