Geoelektrický prieskum odvalu Heřmanice, Ostrava

Abstract

The topic of this bachelor's thesis deals with geoelectric exploration at the Heřmanice waste dump in the city of Ostrava. The Heřmanice waste dump is composed of anthropogenic materials from coal mining, deposited on a subsoil of Quaternary sediments. The chosen geoelectric method was Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT), through which a 496-meter-long profile was measured, led through the thermally active sections of the heap. The goal was to test the possibilities of detecting thermal activity in subsurface parts of the heap. The result is a resistivity profile of the heap, interpreted on the basis of archival data from boreholes, newly conducted drilled boreholes directly within the ERT profile area and thermographic images.
