Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the support for science, research and innovation, not only at national but mainly at European level and specification of programs and initiatives for science and research within the EU and CR. A partial aim of this work is to compare the CZ and EU in the field of science, research and innovation and to assess the state of CZin the international arena. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introductory. The second chapter outlines the issues of innovation, describes the various programs and initiatives to promote R&D in the EU, briefly describes the institutional arrangements of R&D in the EU and describes the methods of evaluation of science and research in the EU. The third chapter focuses on researchat the national level. In the last chapter, I focused mainly on a comparison of selected indicators of R&D by the EUROSTAT, CSU, and EIS. The fifth section summarizes the information.
