Josef Novotný. This Thesis is done to evaluate effectiveness of selected commercial banks in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Austria and Hungary. Work is focused on the development of indicators of profitability, asset quality and financial stability of individual banks in the period 2007 - 2009. The goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of individual banks based on financial indicators. The first part is devoted to the history of the banking sector. The second part focuses on the characterization of individual banks and their ownership structures. In the third part of the evaluation parameters are defined and based on analysis of individual banks are compared with each other.
