Abstract
The focus areas addressed in this Thesis – similarly as other areas of Sokolov brown coal grounds – face already from their previous past the consequences of former deep mining. Most of the former deep mines ceased a long time ago and in many cases we may say we can get no information of their existence. Especially because the aboveground remnants of deep mines vanished completely and there is no information on them in any written sources either. The problem of historical mining influences to a certain degree the territories of Božičany and Počerny, the risk spots negatively affect the development of the administrative units.
In this Thesis I first focused on the historical development of the deep mining of coal and kaolin up to present-day extraction, with available information I evaluated the current state of the focus area. As the geological characteristic states, all the above mentioned areas are part of the Sokolov brown coal basin, called also brown coal seam “Josef”.
Using the evaluation and available information, I further researched the influence of the mining operations on the area’s development. I successively divided the areas into undermined and not-undermined using the mining boundary angle, including the deep mine works current state examination (caving fields, linear and vertical mine works). An important fact for my research was that there were some interesting cave-ins in the area in the past that had subsequent technical solutions to secure these cave-ins. In the conclusion part I sum up all my findings about above-mentioned problems and suggest a solution that may be employed in the undermined areas of Božičany and Počerny territories.
