Abstract
The diploma thesis focuses on the use of expanded slate aggregates as an alternative to other types of light aggregates used in construction. In the theoretical part, attention is paid especially to competitive lightweight aggregates, their production, properties and use. There we also find the basic division of lightweight concrete, the basic components of concrete, the development of lightweight concrete abroad and the differences between dense and lightweight concrete such as fresh mix workability, transport, compaction, compressive strength and last but not least the modulus of elasticity. In the experimental part, basic physical and mechanical tests for aggregates are made, followed by the design of lightweight concrete recipes, processing of concrete mix, testing of physical-mechanical and thermal insulation properties concrete.
