Comparison of the London Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange

Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to make reader have a comprehensive understanding of New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange. We’ll see the differences between both exchanges. Then we can know the advantages and disadvantages over these two exchanges. At last, we’ll expect the future development of these selected exchanges. The first part of this thesis is characteristics of the main principles of the stock exchange market. It is focused on basic knowledge of stock exchanges including their history, transaction, securities, IPO, and regulation. In the following second and the third parts are description of the functioning of the New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange. The description of these two parts is very specific. To make readers feel intuitively, we will use different types of graph. The last part which is also the most important part of the thesis is the comparison of w these selected exchanges. The comparison includes transactions, market capitalization, listed companies, securities and IPO.
