Abstract

VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering, Department of Security Services. Supervisor prof. PhDr. Hana Vykopalová, CSc. This diploma thesis focuses on the problems of netholism and the newest forms of digital addictions in children. The introduction describes the disease of dependency and the process by which a behavior becomes an addiction and the basic characteristics of this process. The second part concerns children in the online environment, the common activities of children, and their effects. The next part of the thesis deals with prevention and treatment of addiction associated with excessive internet use. The aim of the thesis is to specify the newest forms of digital addictions and their impact on children’s behavior, their mental and physical health as well as the consequences of these addictions on their lives, socializing, culture, habits, criminality, change of leisure time activities and therefore changes in the overall children’s lifestyles.
