Abstract

The aim of this bachelors work is to evaluate the use of an oxidizing reagents for furnace in the ArcelorMittal Ostrava a.s. factory. In the introduction there is a brief description of development of metallurgy in our region to the present time, description of a blast furnace including pig iron production follows. In the next part there is a characteristic of the water system in blast furnace processes since water is of an extreme importance and is absolutely essential for a blast furnace operation. The third part is focused on blast furnace blowout. During shutdown it is necessary that all the procedures and operations are very carefully observed by all the subjects concerned. The largest emphasis is on scrubbing of blast-furnace gas, in which the concentration of cyanides, which come from the blast furnace sludge during blowout to the supply waters of the scrubbing circle, increase. Cyanide is extremely poisonous and it can be very dangerous for human beings and the environment if the specified limits for discharging of contaminants are not obeyed. As appendixes to this work a water treatment gas scrubbing system scheme and a plan of sampling are enclosed.
