Abstract

The work deals with the effectiveness of subsequent treatment of drinking water in homes using readily available filter cartridges for desktop filter jugs. The introductory part deals with the general characteristics of water, its availability, resources and quality. Another part deals with methods of treatment of water, requirements for quality of drinking water, control principles and its distribution to the end user. The following section describes the types of water filters for subsequent treatment of drinking water in homes, focusing on readily available filter cartridges for kettles. There is described the principle of filtration and effects guaranteed by manufacturers to improve the quality of drinking water. Another chapter describes methods for verifying the functionality of these filters. The last chapter summarizes the results of measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of examined filters. Based on the results there is then given a recommendation for the suitability or unsuitability to use these kettles filter at home.
