Abstract
This thesis studies the factors of biosorption of hexavalent chromium using waste citrus peel, as well as the influence of trivalent chromium on own determination of hexavalent chromium after the biosorption. In the work there are described methodology of granularity and thermal treatment of sample of biosorbent, including their chemical activation. The theoretical part describes the possible occurrence and negative impact of hexavalent chromium on the environment; methods of its removal; general mechanism of biosorption of Cr(VI) as well as the factors that may affect this process. In the practical part of this thesis there are presented the methodical procedures of modification of studied biosorbent and the methodology of adsorption kinetics’ modeling. The samples were activated with hydrochloric acid in concentration 1.0 mol/l. Samples were analyzed by the spectrophotometric determination of hexavalent chromium with 1,5–diphenylcarbazid.
