Abstract

The issue of waste management represents a major challenge for contemporary society, both from the perspective of environmental protection and the sustainable development of regions and municipalities. The continuous growth of municipal waste production, the need for effective recycling, the reduction of waste landfilling, and compliance with legislative requirements are among the key issues that municipalities must address. Attention must be paid not only to technical and organizational aspects but also to economic possibilities and the availability of grant programs, which can significantly contribute to improving the situation in local waste management. Well-designed waste management systems, cooperation between municipalities, and the active involvement of residents are therefore fundamental pillars for successfully addressing this issue.
