Abstract

This thesis deals with the description and measurement of human capital in the EU. The aim is to clarify whether people with higher qualifications can achieve higher productivity at work and thus higher average wages. Using correlation analysis it was approved that greater mutual dependence with labour productivity is among people with tertiary education than people with lower education, where mutual dependence is not too significant. The correlation of labour productivity and average gross wages was, however as expected, found as high dependency, which can lead us to the idea that productive people may have higher wages. The veracity of this claim would have to be based on the regressive analysis that could explain the dependence of one variable to another.
