Abstract

The thesis focuses on the issue of drawing funds from European Union sources in the public sector, specifically in the context of the town of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate how the town utilizes the opportunities for financing from EU funds, which projects were implemented during the 2014–2020 programming period, and to what extent the public is informed about these activities and involved in the decision-making processes. The theoretical part addresses the cohesion policy of the European Union, provides an overview of the main European funds, outlines the legal framework for granting subsidies, and explains the principles of fiscal federalism and municipal budgeting. The analytical part presents the financial profile of the town and analyzes specific projects co-financed by EU funds. The thesis also includes a questionnaire survey among the town’s residents, examining their level of awareness, degree of participation, and perceived impact of the implemented projects on their quality of life. The final part summarizes the key findings and provides recommendations for more efficient use of European resources in the future.
