Abstract

The doctoral dissertation work, Causes for Quarries’ Changing Performance in Periods of Economic Stagnation, has focused on identification of the key elements that influence corporate financial results. The immediate incentive of the work has been to respond to the necessity of improving efficiency of the decision making processes as regards vicissitudes of corporate financial performance due to changing economic, natural, and technical conditions of operation. The thesis outlines current practices of dealing with the issue analysing operations of mineral extraction companies, namely their investment policies. With a special view to identify causes of their changing economic results, specific quarries were subject of assessment analysing their financial statements.
