Abstract

The energy potential of coal mine gas and its conversion into heat and power is an effective way to use the secondary source as fuel. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part examines in detail the genesis and negative characteristics of coal mine gas, as the main risk factor for the combustion process. The next section details the technology of production of power and heat in a CHP unit. Due to increasing safety of CHP unit operation, I conducted an analysis of all risk factors that could arise in the process of cogeneration. In the next processing What-If method was used to determine the accident scenarios, followed by FMEA method for identifying the most serious scenarios. This was further subjected to ETA, the result of which represented input for modeling program ALOHA. The last point of the thesis was a proposal of countermeasures to reduce risk.
