Abstract

The writer decided to focus the thesis on the issues of the Czech Police and, within the general field of action of the Czech Police, she specified the subject to the activity of the Czech Police by natural catastrophes. Regarding the wide range to be covered in this respect, the writer narrowed the scope of her interest only to selected squads of the Czech Police, namely to the actions of bomb squads, dog squads, air squads, police divers and the work at height and over free depth. At first, the thesis concentrates on the general issues of the Czech Police and its incorporation in the branches of the Integrated Rescue System, including the definition of the respective bounds of law. Following the general definition, the subsequent chapters deal with the activity of the particular squads mentioned above, including the description of work conditions of the selected squads of the Czech Police. The thesis provides a detailed account of criteria which allow the individual police officers to work in the selected squads. The whole thesis is permeated by the major subject of the thesis, namely the activity of the respective police squads by natural catastrophes, whereas the natural catastrophes are specified at first in order to be subsequently contextualised with the scope of action of the selected squads of the Czech Police. Besides the introduction and conclusion, the thesis is divided into 8 chapters. In the conclusion, the writer tries to assume a personal attitude to the issue under consideration and, based on the covered activities, she attempts at suggesting improvements to the Czech Police regarding its role in the Integrated Rescue System.
