Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the removal of hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) from aqueous solution using biochar prepared from almond shells by microwave pyrolysis. The theoretical part summarizes the basic principles of adsorption, the properties of biochar, and the behavior of Cr(VI) in aqueous systems. The experimental part focuses on biochar preparation, its characterization, and evaluation of its adsorption performance under different conditions. The effects of pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, and equilibrium concentration were investigated. The results showed that adsorption was most effective under strongly acidic conditions, and the equilibrium data were best described by the Langmuir model. The prepared biochar appears to be a promising low-cost adsorbent for Cr(VI) removal from aqueous solutions.
