Design of holographic structures for image creation

Abstract

This diploma thesis aims to present a new approach for design and creation of holographic structures that would allow for substantial reduction in thickness (and thus mass and volume of material) compared to conventional imaging methods. Two approaches are presented in this thesis to achieve this, one based on ray optics approximation, and the other on Fourier optics and Fraunhofer approximation in far field. To test the functionality of the developed algorithms, physical holographic structures were created using optical lithography. Based on these structures we practically demonstrate design, realization and resulting imaging effect.
