Abstract

Part-time job can currently be in time of crisis the solution to unemployment and lower participation rate in the labour market. The main aim is to analyze part-time jobs in selected countries, using data from the OECD statistics, as well as national statistics, comparing the situation in selected countries with the situation in the Czech Republic and outline the future direction of Czech employment policy in this area. The result is a general profile of part-time worker but also define significant differences between the countries. Not only for the Czech Republic is important to focus on eliminating or at least reduction of the existing barriers that affect the greater use of part-time jobs, but also, due to the use of such jobs to reduce unemployment, it is important not to focus onyl on the growth of the flexibility on the labour market, but also on other factors.
