Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with problems of resistance of structural steels exposed to higher temperatures. The introductory part describes the properties of steel and the factors that affect it. Subsequently, there is mentioned a method of materials testing, testing of fireresistant steel and fire tests on real objects. Following the above is characterization of fire resistancy and heat transfer into the structure. Final chapters deal with types of protection of structures and construction materials from the effects of fire.
