Abstract

The aim of this work is to introduce problem of heavy metals in the environment and their decontamination. In this work is described transport of heavy metals form source to food chain and their dangerous properties. There are also described technologies and biotechnologies used to remove heavy metals from waste water. The main part describes and explains mechanizm of biosorption on different kind of biomass. A recherche was made to find out the highest uptakes for different kinds of biomass. As the biomass were used prokaryotes, algae (green algae, seeweeds etc.), fungi (yeast) and plants. The last part describes experimental measuring of biosorption properties on acid-activated plant biomass (Reynoutria bohemica) it´s plant-body parts (root, footstalk, leaf). In the end, results of the recherche and experimental measuring were evaluated and results of experimental measuring on R. bohemica were compared with the best biosorbent in the way of sorbing Zn2+ ionts form aqueous solutions. The best biosorbent was bacteria Acidithiobacilus ferrooxidans.
