Abstract

The thesis focuses on the wire drawing from nickel-titanium alloy, commercially known as nitinol. In comparison with another alloys NiTi alloy has specific properties, such as shape memory, superelasticity and two ways shape memory effect. There are described technologies, such as melting, forging, swaging, rolling, extrusion, wire drawing and thermal treatment. As well the work refers to some problems, which could occur during wire drawing and outlines possibilities, how they could be solved. There are confronted conditions of two different realized laboratory experimental wire drawings of NiTi shape memory alloy. The possibilities of using NiTi wires are mentioned in the last chapter, for example in medicine, aeronautics, automotive industry, electro engineering, robotics and other sectors of industry.
