Abstract
This bachelor thesis explores possibilities of using direct reduced iron (DRI) in the electric arc furnace during steel melting.
The first chapter describes direct reduced iron, different ways of direct reduced iron processes and their differences. The second chapter describes influence of direct reduced iron on the energy balance of the electric arc furnace and dynamic energy balance. The third chapter describes process dynamics of electric arc furnace during an application of direct reduced iron.
Using direct reduced iron during steel melting is surely common use in the many countries. In our country (Mongolia) recently, metallurgy plants are very interested in the utilization of DRI and started to use it. The direct reduced iron can fully substitute scrap and cast iron. More efficient production, high quality steel are the goals.
