Abstract

In the introduction, the bachelor thesis describes the basic properties of brass and their use. Furthermore, attention is paid to the Cu - Zn phase diagram, which is important for understanding the development of microstructure (and thus properties) depending on the processing. Division of brass into wrought and cast with subsequent description of individual types of brass. The conclusion of the theoretical part summarizes the important elements that have a positive and negative effect on brass. The experimental part deals with the examination of four brass samples, which were subjected to metallographic evaluation and subsequent analysis of the structure associated with the measurement of microhardness. The proportions of phases in brass are determined by quantitative and qualitative analysis and the individual alloys are plotted in the binary diagram Cu - Zn. The aim of the experimental part was to determine the effect of zinc and other elements on the structure of brass.
