Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis deals exclusively with failures on road embankments and their following remediation. The thesis is divided into a few chapters. In the beginning there is an overview of the most common road embankments failures. In next part it describes factors, which have negative influence on stability and deformation of road embankments. In next part are mentioned most common types of remediation, which were best proved in reality. And in the end it exposes some examples of actual history cases. Aim of this bachelor thesis is to demonstrate, that mistakes in design, unsuitable construction material, insufficient maintenance, changeable climatic conditions and permanent overloading by transport cause a damage on road embankment that pass on road construction. Damaged embankments and deformations on roadways lead to degreased fluency and safety of traffic on roadway.
