Abstract

The aim of this diploma thesis is to design an information system for a small manufacturing company of gingerbread to suit the user’s requirements.

The first part describes the theoretical basis for the design of information systems. Stages of development, a structured method for the design of the IS, data modeling based on a three-level conception, function modeling and data flows. In addition, project management and risk analysis methods and principles for the design of input forms and reports.

The next section describes the analysis of the current situation together with the profile of the company.

The practical part is the actual design of the system consisting of data and functional model. They are drafts of the input forms, necessary reports and process description specifying the proposed functions. Hardware and software implementation along with project schedule with bar chart, risk analysis and acceptance the appropriate corrective actions.

The last section contains budgeting expenses and expected revenues and an evaluation of efficiency together with a general assessment of the proposed solutions.

This proposal serves as a basis for programming the system.
