Improvement of Safety Practices in Nigeria's Construction Industry in Relation to Europe

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the safety regulations and practices in Nigeria’s construction industry with those in Europe. By the use of methods that encompass a qualitative and quantitative research technique and in-depth narrative analysis, this study aimed to improve safety protocols in construction companies in Nigeria. In the study, data collected using a questionnaire distributed to 30 respondents were used for analysis. Through a comparative analysis, the study highlights the differences and similarities between Nigeria and Europe, which offers insights into how safety standards are enforced in both regions. The findings from this work indicate that Nigeria's construction sector is faced with lack of consistent safety training, improper PPE usage, and poor regular safety audits. Finally, the work recommended that government agencies in Nigeria should enforce compliance with safety regulations
