Neutron activation analysis in continuous and pulsed regime of neutron generator

Abstract

This thesis wraps around the utilization of neutron generator either in continuous or pulse mode. To elaborate further on each mode, the thesis is split into two parts. After a quick description of the basics surrounding the field of nuclear physics, a chapter describing the usage of pulse mode followed. The principles of pulse mode are characterized, followed by our experimental investigation of its capabilities. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the continuous mode of irradiation with neutrons, specifically a new method of investigating bulk material composition is introduced. Such an analysis was conducted using Heusler alloys, for which we knew only the total mass of the mixture and by using specific calculations and methods, we were able to determine weights of individual elements of the samples.
