Abstract

First, the work introduces readers to understand the necessary historici background. The beginning of whole monetary policy, euro area and the euro goes back deep into the past – before the genesis of the European Community (later European Union). After familiariyation with the genesis of economic and monetary union work broken down the European Union Member States according to their position on the monetary union project. First describes the political, economic and public opinion the old member countries (United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden), which do not use the euro. Finally, it is importatnt that the work has idenfied a specific position of selected countries, namely Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, to the euro, which is engaged in the last charter. The main objektive of this work is to be more familiar with the isme of the euro and the specific situation in the EU Member States, where so far not started the third phase of economic and monetary union. The conclusion, therefore, expresses the author’s specific view the isme of the euro in the Czech Republic and Baltic States.
